Cooke City in the Summertime - A Different World to be Explored! Cooke City, Montana in the summer months are great for the outdoor enthusiast who loves to hike, fish, atv, camp, dirt bike, etc... We are only located just 4 miles from the Northeast Entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Besides Yellowstone National Park, there are the Beartooth Mountains, the town of Red Lodge, the town of Gardiner, and Cody - home to the famous Buffalo Bill and the famous nightly Cody Rodeo! To get here in the summertime, there are two choices...take the Chief Joseph Highway (120) to the junction of Highway 212 and turn left, it will lead you right to Cooke City. Or come through Yellowstone National Park (entrance fees are required) through the Northeast entrance to Cooke City by car. Summertime season here in Cooke City begins officially Memorial Day weekend in May and continues through to October. There is so much to do and see here, you'll sure to come back! Renting an ATV or even bringing your own will help you explore our area and make it a fun way to see the mountains, lakes, and streams we have in our area.
